Seeing an Instagram Story after it expires
Once a Story expires, the only copies that exist are the poster's private archive and any copy someone saved while it was live. There is no recovery tool.
What survives
Highlighted Stories stay public indefinitely. Everything else leaves public view at the 24-hour mark and is reachable only by the person who posted it.
Why 'recovery' tools are fiction
Expired Stories are not sitting behind a slightly harder URL — the public endpoint stops serving them. A tool promising to retrieve last week's Story is describing something that cannot happen.
The workable approach
Capture during the window instead of recovering after it. Watcholy checks each monitored account on your chosen interval and saves new Stories as they appear, building a timeline that keeps growing while Instagram keeps deleting.
A Story deleted by the poster after five minutes is still in your archive if a check caught it.
Choosing an interval
Frequent posters warrant short intervals; a few checks a day is plenty for most accounts. Shorter intervals mean less chance of missing something posted and pulled quickly.
